TallGiraffe Giveaway!

I love this next shop. Kim of TallGiraffe on Etsy
has something for every budget! She has adorable
business card holders, aprons, skirts, you name it!
I would love for you to get to know her!
1. When did you start crafting? Why?
I can't actually remember a specific starting time. I think it's just something I've always liked and picked up from the art projects we did at school. I actually think that's a big part of why I decided to become an elementary teacher, my job is to create... (create ways to get students to learn, to behave, to respect each other, etc.) I really started to teach myself to sew when I was in college, so at about the age of 21 or so. I just kept trying new things although I still don't consider myself very advanced. I've dabbled in lots of different things like carving stamps and lampworking that I've learned from my boyfriend but the sewing seems to be the one that stuck.

2. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I love making the vinyl pouches because picking out paper prints is just as fun as picking out fabric prints. I run in phases but those are my favorite right now.

3. What is your favorite Etsy shop, besides your own?
That's really tough. I helped my boyfriend set up his lampworking shop Inedibleglass but my favorite new shop to purchase from is probably this soap shop RachelRene because the bars are huge and smell awesome! I just found her but I'm sure to go back for more soap!
4. What is the best Etsy purchase you have ever made?
I just bought a coat for my Great Dane from CozyHorse. I haven't gotten it yet but I'm super excited because my poor dog just doesn't have enough fur, even for California winters. I purchased this wallet from Tinymeat over two years ago though and it's still running strong! Love this thing! http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=129598

5. Tell us something fun about yourself. Anything!!!
I'm sorta in the process (a long and slow one) of restoring a 1962 Volvo 122s. They look like derby hats! I can't wait till I become known as the teacher with the weird old car!

Kim has graciously agreed to offer this
beautiful scarf as this weeks giveaway!
It has cotton panels and is backed with soft fleece.
59" long and 7" wide. It has 5 prints, each one

Caramel Jubilee Giveaway!

I have to start off this feature by apologizing!
I am so sorry that these delicious caramels are
going to make your mouth water and your stomach
yearn for some of these delicious caramels. That said,
let me introduce you to Rachelle of Caramel Jubilee.

1. Where did you learn to make your (now famous) caramels?
I am a self-taught caramel maker. My grandma is absolutely famous for her fudge, but no one (including me) can make it like she does. I decided that I needed something of my own to be famous for. I love caramels so that was my first choice. I started out by experimenting with lots of different instructions and recipes and finally made up my own based off of those. A short time later--my etsy shop was created!

2. What is your favorite aspect of being an Etsy seller?
My favorite aspect of being an etsy seller is that is an incredibly flexible part-time job for me. I can do business-related things in little blips of time while I'm at school, I can ship packages any time of the day or night, etc. I have a crazy schedule right now, and etsy just fits well.

3. What is the best Etsy purchase you have ever made?
Picking my best etsy purchase is like picking a favorite child! I adore my etsy things! However, if you insist, I would go with this one: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=8156088 . That bag is the most perfect thing I've ever owned. I take it everywhere with me!
4. What is your favorite seasons and why?
Autumn is definitely my favorite. It's cool enough to wear a sweater but you can get away without one. The mountains near my home are beautiful to hike and drive through when all the leaves are changing. Autumn is home-y, beautiful, and calm.

5. Tell us something fun and funky about yourself.
I don't know if this counts as fun and funky--but I absolutely hate it when my food touches each other on my plate and I only eat one food at a time. On my plate there has to be a little space between each item so that they don't touch, and I completely finish one food before starting another. I know--it's odd. And you probably think I'm obsessive. I'm only crazy when it comes to food! :o)
